Install it
- Open stayaway.app/download and download the Windows installer.
- Optional but worth it: check the file is the one we published (see below).
- Run the installer. Windows shows "Windows protected your PC". Click More info, then Run anyway.
- Follow the installer. It installs for your user account only, so it does not ask for administrator rights.
- When it finishes, open Stayaway (the installer offers to). Enter your email address, then the six-digit code we email you.
Why Windows warns you
Stayaway is not yet signed with a code-signing certificate, so SmartScreen does not recognise the publisher and says so. The warning is about who published the file, not about what it does. Some antivirus tools may flag it too, because it simulates mouse and keyboard input and registers global shortcuts, which is what a category of unwanted software also does.
Check the download
The download page lists the installer's SHA-256. To compare, open PowerShell in the folder you downloaded to and run Get-FileHash followed by the file name. The hash it prints should match the one on the page, letter for letter. If it does not, do not run the file, and write to us.
